Delhi the capital of India is home to a high concentration of Black Kites. It is a medium-sized bird of prey. From a distance, it appears almost black, although it is dark brown in colour with, scattered light brown markings. The eyes are dark brown and the bill is black with a yellow cere (area of skin around the nostrils). Both sexes are similar. Young Black Kites are generally lighter in colour than the adults. It is the subject of a documentary “All That Breathes.”
