(Afropavo, Pavo)

Peafowls are large, colourful pheasants, known for their distinctive tail feathers. Males peafowls are called peacocks, females are called peahens. The tail feathers of the peacocks spread out in a distinctive train that is a major part of their body length. These tail feathers have eye shaped markings in blue, gold, red and many other colours. Females are believed to choose their mates according to the size, color, and quality of these feather trains.
