The history of modern India cannot be written without understanding the important role played by our first prime minister, Jawahar Lal Nehru. His contribution impacted generations of Indians.

Nehru has always been a favourite target of a particular section of our society. He has been the biggest victim of fake news even before the word, fake news came into existence. Despite all the rumours spread about him by his detractors, Nehru was adored by the youth and children. He was and is affectionately referred to as “Chacha Nehru.”

Jawahar Lal Nehru said, “Children are like buds in a garden and should be carefully and lovingly nurtured, as they are the future of the nation and the citizens of tomorrow”.

Although urbanisation has been linked with employment development and economic growth, millions of children in the world’s rural and urban areas are growing up amid scarcity and deprivation.

“Children aren’t coloring books. You don’t get to fill them with your favourite colours” – Khaled Hosseini.

“A child can always teach an adult three things: to be happy for no reason, to always be busy with something, and to know how to demand with all his might that which he desires” – Paulo Coelho.

“Every child is a different kind of flower, and all together, they make this world a beautiful garden” – Khalil Gibran.

“You can cut all the flowers but you cannot keep Spring from coming: Pablo Neruda”

As Oprah Winfrey said, “Every time a child is saved from the dark side of life, ever every time one of us makes the effort to make a difference in a child’s life, we add light and healing to our own lives .”

Cheers to Children’s Day!
