I have always loved Impressionist paintings. I love how they capture a moment not by recording every detail, but through light, colour, movement, and mood. For years, I have looked at those paintings and wondered if a camera could create something similar. I decided to experiment. I slowed the shutter speed and let the bird’s movement blur the image.
It felt quite different from how I usually photograph birds. I wait patiently for the right moment, looking for a sharp eye, a feather in perfect detail, the bird’s expression. This time, I wanted the camera to record not the bird, but my impression of the moment, the movement, the softness, the colours, the fleeting presence.
I wonder if Claude Monet, if alive, would have sent me a defamation notice for calling this a hint of his favourite genre.
