A black kite rests upon the ground,
Wings folded, silent, without a sound.
Don’t mistake her for one who has
Forgotten the sky and resigned to the dust.
Deep within those folded wings,
She remembers the freedom that flight brings.
She knows the earth, its dust, its scars,
Yet keeps her eyes upon the stars.
She is a woman the world tried to confine,
To the narrow boundaries others design.
Give her a moment, a breath, a sky
Watch her spread her wings and fly.
She was never meant to stay on the ground.
Her soul was born with the urge to soar
